Landscape Ontario is joining with PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) to host the 4th annual Day of Service on April 20, 2012.

PLANET is the U.S.-based national association representing lawn care professionals. The U.S. association is partnering with other association members in a grassroots effort that encourages individual members, supplier members, and state associations to create volunteer lawn care, landscape, and interiorscape projects in their own communities.

In signing the partnership agreement, LO executive director Tony DiGiovanni, said, “This program will enhance the importance and profile of giving back.” No specific plans have been announced for the Apr. 20 event.

The invitation from PLANET outlined that partners on the Day of Service will receive marketing templates to co-brand and distribute, a copy of the article of the event to publish in respective magazines and co-branding on www.planetdayofservice.org website and a link to each association’s website.

PLANET says that by participating in Day of Service, members will:
  • Impact quality of life in their local communities
  • Become part of the foundation that builds a national movement to improve the nation’s green spaces
  • Revitalize the places where people live, work, and play
  • Demonstrate goodwill and environmental stewardship
  • Be recognized as a leader in their communities
  • Foster teamwork among their comrades
  • Show their commitment to a great cause
  • Raise awareness about the lawn and landscape profession
  • Join other green industry professionals for a day of giving back to local communities around the nation
