Clarence-Beuving
We sadly announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Klaas (Clarence) Hindrik Beuving (87) on Friday, June 30, 2023, with his immediate family by his side. He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Hewson; his three children, Robert (deceased), Sherry-Ann (Jukka) and Kevin (Brigid) along with his five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Brayden, Mihai, Luke and Claire, and will be missed by friends and family in Canada and in Holland.

Born to Reinder and Annechien Beuving in the north of the Netherlands, he was one of eight children. Four stayed in Holland and three others followed Klaas to Canada: his older sister Martha (Henk, both deceased), Jack (Shirley, both deceased) and Betsy (John, deceased). His brothers Luuk (Grietje deceased), Jan (Dinie), Geert (deceased)(Hennie) and sister Christien (deceased) remained in Holland, but family ties were strong with visits across the Atlantic.

As a child growing up during the Second World War, Klaas never forgot the Canadians who liberated his home town. He knew he wanted to emigrate here, which he did in 1959. He wanted to see every corner of this country and visited the Yukon, the High Arctic, Northern Ontario and Quebec and both the East and West Coasts. Extensive travels with Dorothy were always full of highlights.

His Canadian life started farming in the Holland Marsh. In several years, he became a certified horticulturalist and began Orchard Park Landscaping and Nurseries. He was one of the original 11 members of organizations which later formed Landscape Ontario in 1973. Despite the demands of that job, he began a lifelong hobby of pigeon racing and had a reputation as a knowledgeable breeder, and friend to some of the best pigeon flyers here and abroad, especially in Holland. His love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, showed in his 55 years as a member of the LOFORNA Rod and Gun Club.

However, all that came second to the love of family.
